Flat feet don't stop you from being athletic. Elite runners have flat feet. So do competitive hikers, cyclists, and field sport athletes. Why Flat Feet and Repetitive Sports Are a Specific Combination

In everyday walking, flat feet may produce mild discomfort but rarely cause injury on their own. Repetitive sports — running, hiking, jumping, field sports — are different because they multiply the number of load cycles dramatically. A runner doing 30 miles per week takes around 50,000+ steps per week with each step sending force through the kinetic chain.
